Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest
Gender: Male
Breed: Pitbull Terrier Mix
Age: Est DOB: 03/2023
Weight: 49 lbs
Dog Friendly: With the right match
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Older kids ideal
House Trained: Doing great!
History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving puppies and dogs to our organization from an overcrowded shelter who needed to give them a second chance! They are sweet, social, and goofy pups who are hoping to find their forever home soon!
A note from the foster: Say hello to Podrick, or as we like to call him, Petey! He’s such a goofy, happy boy who settles in great wherever he goes. Shortly after we started fostering him, he had to have one of his eyes removed because of a retinal detachment, but it hasn’t bothered him in the least. He’s been doing fantastic ever since.
He loves his spot on the couch, exploring the nearby trails, and chasing waves at the lake. He absolutely adores people, and always greets them with excitement. He does amazing in his crate when we leave the house, and behaves so well that we don’t have to crate him at bedtime. He’ll do anything for a treat, but still knows how to sit patiently for his meals.
He’s a strong, energetic boy and we’re still perfecting his walking skills, but he's come a long way - he hardly ever reacts anymore when we see other dogs! We recently fostered another small dog and Podrick did AMAZING with him. I think he’d love to be in a house where he has another small/medium sized dog to play with. (He seems to get anxious around other large dogs, but we're working on this.)
He has so much personality, and will do great in any home that’s willing to give him lots of couch company, walks, and play time!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsively more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
