History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Smart and sassy Phoebe is going to make a wonderful addition to an active family. Phoebe has a ton of fun energy. She loves to play inside and out. She loves squeaky toys and things that she can chew on. Peanut butter Kongs are a favorite. She loves to walk and explore the outdoors. She’s so curious and will pick up sticks on her walk. Phoebe loves hikes and has gone at least 3 miles on an outing and could do more.
Phoebe is adventurous and excited by her surroundings . She will need puppy classes and a devoted owner to help her learn how to walk on a leash and be calm as she socializes with the outside world.
Phoebe really wants to please her human and she’s incredibly responsive to teaching with consistency. We’ve been working on the command “eyes on me“ when she barks at people or dogs while we’re on walks . She’s doing well with it but it’s been a bit difficult for me to train her because I also have her sibling. Once she’s the sole focus of a family I think she’ll learn very quickly.
Other pets: Phoebe loves to roughhouse with her brother. She doesn’t understand that cats and smaller dogs don’t want to play the same way she does. It would be great for her to have another dog to carouse around with. If you have cats or smaller dogs you’ll need to be invested in good consistent training to help her learn to be gentle with them.
Phoebe is going to be a wonderful, lovable addition to an active family.
Adoption Fee: $750 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
