History: Penelope is an adorable little curly-q! She needed a second chance and an escape out of the commercial breeding world. She is a bit timid and shy at first but warms up quickly with some patience. She would make a wonderful addition to a lucky home of her very own soon!
A note from the foster: Attention Homebodies!
... and other people who work from home. :)
I love being at home w/ my foster mom, (and her dog and the dogs that come to visit). She works part-time from home and doesn't leave us alone for very long.
My mom foster mom says I'm gaining confidence every day. I'm very comfortable in the house and can go wherever I want. (Which is why my mom finds her socks in some fun places. He-he)
I only go in the crate now if my mom is leaving the house. I've graduated to sleeping in a dog bed in her room at night.
I'm still using potty pads but mom says we are gonna try outside again next week. I watch when the other dogs go outside to potty and think I'd like to try it.
I still don't like to be held/touched but love to follow my mom around the house. She says we just have to be patient and I'll realize someday that going forward, the people in my life will only be gentle and loving.
My wish is to find a forever home that has another dog I can continue to watch and learn from. I'd love to be pals with someone who is home more than they are away. If you fit the bill and have the patience to let me continue to gain trust I'd love to meet you.
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
