Paprika

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Chihuahua & Dachshund Mix
Age: Est DOB: 06/2023
Weight: 12 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Needs child-free home
House Trained: Yes

History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue efforts continue all winter long as we have recently welcomed another deserving group from our rural area partners in North Dakota.

A Note from the Foster: Sweet with a bit of sass and spice - Meet Paprika! Paprika is a little lady with a big personality. She fancies herself a professional lap dog and will spend as much time as possible nestled in a lap. Her biggest joy in life comes from being near her person. Paprika is quite attached to her foster mom and had limited interest in the other humans of the house. She is a bit timid around others but is lively and sweet if she has had time to get to know you!

Paprika lives with a variety of foster siblings (big and small, old and young) and does well with each of them. She is exploring the world of play with her siblings but hasn't quite figures the world of wrestling and tug of war out yet. Paprika could live in a home with other dogs or would be completely content to be the only dog - the more attention for her, the better in her mind!

House training is going well and she has only had one accident in her foster home. She knows to do her business outside, but is still working on communicating when it is time to go out. Paprika goes outside right away in the morning and usually visits the backyard every 4-6 hours and that has worked to help with her routine.

Paprika walks well on a leash and seems to enjoy walks. Don't let those little legs fool you, this girl can hike with the best of them and doesn't tire out on walks. However, she is also perfectly content to nap her day away! She really is a go with the flow girl.

Since she has not been around small children and she is quite timid around strangers, it would be best for Paprika to live in a house without small children who might startle her accidently. Paprika would ideally join a quiet home and would most likely attach significantly to one person over the rest of the household. She will interact with other members but it would be expected that her heart would belong most to a specific person. ❤️  Paprika is sweet as can be and is looking for her next best friend to snuggle up to ❤️

Adoption Fee: $510 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
