History: Monkey is a super handsome boy who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart with his smile and happy personality. He has his paws crossed to find his forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Unbelievably handsome and absolutely sweet, meet Monkey - also goes by Funky Monkey, King Kong and Ozzy. This handsome little devil is so happy to be getting a second chance and is ready to learn all about the great life in his forever home!
Since arriving to rescue, Monkey has really started to come out of his shell and is quite trusting of humans he is familiar with. He still needs calm approaches, but Monkey loves pets and will roll over for belly rubs and chin scratches. He tends to want to be near his foster mom and keeps a pretty good eye on her.
Monkey definitely enjoys meal time and is food motivated - however, he is a bit picky about the treats he will eat. Soft options are the way to this guys heart (and belly). Monkey has shown no signs of resource guarding and has shown interest in toys around the house. He lives with a very bossy foster sister and he is quite accepting of her hoarding the toys.
Monkey continues to work on potty training skills. He isn't so sure about grass, but we are practicing walks in the yard and he is willing to follow his foster mom into the grass now. He will need patience when mastering his potty training and leash skills, but he is definitely making LOTS of progress each day.
He is such a sweet boy and is working so hard to figure the good life out. He gets along wonderfully with all the dogs in his foster home and is a very polite boy. Monkey will do well in a home with or without dogs but would likely prefer a home that is a bit on the quiet side as he continues to learn about life outside of a kennel ❤️ If sweet and calm are what you are seeking, Monkey is your guy ❤️

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
