Merida

Adoption Status: Pending

Gender: Female
Breed: See Below
Age: Est DOB: 12/2024
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Likely due to young age
Kid Friendly: Likely due to young age
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Merida is a super beautiful girl who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart with her smile and happy personality. She has her paws crossed to find her forever home soon!

Merida is reported to be a maltese/chihuahua/mini poodle mix.

A Note from the Foster: Merida is a sweet little girl who is learning day by day that people can be her friends.  She is a bit timid around humans but absolutely becomes the puppy she is around other dogs.  She is a teeny tiny little thing who loves, loves, loves to be outdoors.  She smells constantly of grass because she loves rolling around in it. She has started to explore and thinks rocks, sticks, leaves, and weeds are super interesting.  She loves to carry sticks around and pounce on those pesky weeds growing in the rocks.  It has become her personal goal to remove every wood chip from the landscaping to her stash across the yard. She will pick up wood chips and sticks that barely fit in her mouth but she never gives up! She arrived at her foster home scared of everything and stayed in her safe crate except to go outside.  She has discovered comfy pillows to snuggle in, squeaky toys to chase and pounce on, and is starting to eat treats left on the floor for her.  She is a smart little gal and is making great progress.  She is still a bit unsure when approached to get picked up but once held she snuggles in.   She LOOOVES belly rubs and flips right over when she feels the need!! Potty training is going well on a schedule as she learns that outside is where she should go. She keeps her kennel clean all night and during the day if her family is out. She is a pretty easy pup as she spends a lot of time sleeping in her sof pillow but has started to understand that those little squeaky things her foster mom leaves laying around are for playing with, running around is kind of fun, and that she is a champion pouncer! She looks and acts like a little bear cub when she gets going-including her back end going faster than the front.  She makes her foster family laugh!   She would do best in a home with another playful dog (her middle aged foster brother is a lump) and with a family willing to be patient as she becomes more acclimated to the good life of outside, toys, and love.  This sweet, adorable, and happier every day little girl is ready for her family!

Adoption Fee: Our adoption fees typically vary from $500-$1250 + tax. Our coordinator will be in touch with you with specific information during the application processing. For more information on where our animals come from, here is some additional information. Thank you!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
