History: Mazer is a handsome and striking boy who arrived to rescue afraid and unsure of life around him. He has been working hard in his foster home on his trust and confidence and is officially ready to find a forever family of his very own!
A Note from the Foster: This little guy has such a big heart and just needs the right home where he can continue the progress he has made so far. His brown eyes are so soft and sweet - they will melt your heart!
Mazer arrived to rescue over the winter as a very scared guy who lived in a puppy mill. All things considered, he has made the transition to living in a home very well - he's potty trained, dog friendly, kid friendly and indifferent with cats. He's great on a leash, loves to be outside, treat motivated and loves to know where his humans are. Although he is afraid of human touch, he seeks us out and will nudge at our hands for attention. He likes to nap with his foster mom and when he's on his leash he will allow pets and scratches. In time, he will likely continue to come out of his shell as he learns to trust and accept affection.
Mazer has started to assert himself with a bark now and then to let us know when he wants something - usually it's when foster mom goes outside without him. He also huffs and puffs while we are making his dinner - it's pretty funny! He sleeps in the bedroom with everyone at night with the door open to his crate and we usually find him on a dog bed by morning. When we are at work he hangs out in a puppy pen and is quiet all day. We don't crate Mazer when we are home or only gone for a short time and we have had no issues.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
