History: 🧡 From Texas to Midwest 🤠—- A group of deserving dogs was recently welcomed as part of our Texas Transport Program! A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own!
A Note from the Foster: Are you looking for an energetic, fun, silly companion? Maddie may be your girl!
She is a 4 year old husky shepherd mix. She is a very sweet 70 pound lap dog. She likes to be on or around me at all times! She is also super playful and frequently gets zoomies around my apartment. She loves her toys. I would say she is a medium to high energy dog (she does have some working breed in her) so we have been doing a lot of mental enrichment inside. She is amazing on the leash, she really just wants to sniff every blade of grass. She will definitely need people who want to play with her, give her walks, and work with her mentally.
I haven’t had her around any dogs, but she was found with her puppies, and hasn’t given me any indication that she couldn’t live with other pets with the proper introduction. Maddie is so sweet and loving towards the people in her inner circle, but she requires a slightly larger space bubble and to take things slow when meeting new people. Maddie was likely a stray in Texas without a consistent home or schedule, so we are working to help build her confidence and have lots of tips and tricks to pass along to her adopters. Every day Maddie becomes more comfortable outside, but we understand it will take a special someone to understand and appreciate the time it takes for her to become the goofy snuggler she really is!
Adoption Fee: $510 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
