Louboutin

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: French Bulldog
Age: DOB: 04/2022
Weight: 32 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Older or No Kids Ideal
House Trained: Doing great!

History and a Note from the Foster: If you look in the dictionary for "loving" there should be a picture of Louis!  Louis loves every person and every other animal.  He wants a lap to lay on(not beside you but ON your lap) anytime you sit down.  He will snooze through a Twins game or your favorite game show and not move an inch.  He might snore a bit but that's what the volume on the TV is for!

He rides perfectly in the car and walks on a leash like a cloud.  But I need to clarify one thing..he is like a cloud until he sees his arch rival THE SQUIRREL.  He will try to get that wiley beast any chance he gets.  In fact he is perfectly quiet unless he sees the squirrels teasing him outside.  He kennels when needed and sleeps quietly through the night.  He would be really really happy if he could sleep in the bed with someone but understands if not.

So beyond all the wonderful things about Louis, there are some serious issues I need to talk about.  Louis is totally deaf.  He runs and plays but this brings up safety concerns for Louis.  Because he cannot hear he does not know to be careful around other animals (cannot hear warning growls).  He will walk right up to take a bone or food and if the other dog warns him, he would not know.  He cannot hear you call him so he needs to be securely leash walked every time.  If he gets out he cannot hear you calling and he cannot hear cars coming at him.  This means watching the door really really carefully so the Fed Ex driver or the 7 year old that runs out to play are a concern for him to slip out.  So it would be best if there were no children and either no other pets or very easy going ones.

Louis also has health issues.  He has dry eyes so it will require watching this, medication and doctor visits.  He has had 2 anal gland infections in 4 months so this will require watching, medication and doctor visits.  He has facial folds that will need to be monitored ( someone familiar with the breed would be great).  His cost for care will be more than average dogs.

Adoption Fee: $750 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
