History: I am a dog from the Out of the Cold Rescue Effort!
We recently were arrived back to rescue with over 400+ dogs and 20+ cats looking for a second chance after being surrendered to rescue. They are each going through their own individual journeys while in rescue- many needing extensive medical attention for orthopedic care, dentals, skin issues, etc. Other health concerns were goopy eyes, ear infections, mange, and in need of a good bath and grooming.
These deserving souls will get all the care they need and be ready to go home to your family soon!
The photos on the white couch are off when they arrived to rescue. Many will have already improved with any physical medical concerns going on as well as many having received a good bath (and some a groom) after the photos have been taken. Our foster families help us keep each dog’s profile as up to date as possible however if you are interested in learning more, please apply to adopt and once approved and connected to a foster family, they can send updated photos, bios, etc!
A note from the foster: Hi everyone I'm Lorna! I love toys, treats, and snuggles. I have been at my foster home for two months now and I am learning so much about what it means to be part of a family.
I love all types of toys-you name it and I will love it. I love stuffed toys so much I end up dismantling them-oops! I don't eat the stuffing and squeakers so my foster mom says that's a win. I have not had an accident inside my house or in my crate. Speaking of crate, I am so so good in mine! I know I get a little treat when I go in and that's all I need as incentive.
I love working on training too. It means lots of treats and I really appreciate knowing what is expected out of me. I am currently working on not jumping up on people and only using my mouth for eating and playing with toys-I am not supposed to touch humans with my mouth unless it's a smooch-I will give you endless smoochies if you let me.
I would love to play with another dog. There is a very elderly resident dog with me and I desperately want to play with her. Her body hurts so we just kind of mouth each other but running around with another dog would be so much fun! I have not encountered cats that I know of, but I am very interested in any wildlife I see outside so perhaps a home without kitty friends would be best for me.
I have had children visit my house and I love them. As long as they are dog savvy and patient with me while I am committing these new skills to memory, we would have so much fun together. I need to wrap this up but my foster mom wants me to make sure my forever family knows I have a 95% success rate of coming inside as soon as she says, "Inside please!" from the fenced in yard. I am also trusted to have the run of the house for sleeping. I do not get into anything and usually sleep on a dog bed in my foster mom's room. Sometimes I sleep with her (she loves it but sometimes I don't feel like it), sometimes I settle in on the couch.
I am told I am such a good girl who would love to go on walks, runs, hikes, you name it. If you think I would be a good fit for you, please fill out an application. Thanks for reading about me-I am excited to meet you!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsively more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
