Layla

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Miniature Poodle
Age: Est DOB: 04/2018
Weight: 11 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- needs another dog in the home
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Layla is a super adorable little girl who needed a second chance to a good life. She is working hard on her trust and confidence building and hopes to find a patient family of her very own soon!

A Note from the Foster: Layla is a 7-year-old Miniature Poodle with a quiet, sensitive nature and a heart full of potential. While she can be nervous around people at first, she’s incredibly dog-friendly and finds comfort and confidence in the company of other dogs. For this reason, she would do best in a home with a resident dog who can help guide her as she continues to adjust to life in a loving home.

Layla is kennel trained and mostly house trained, with only the occasional accident as she continues to settle in. She’s beginning to discover the joy of toys and loves having access to a secure, fenced-in yard where she can safely explore and run at her own pace.

Mealtime is a unique experience with Layla—rather than eating directly from her bowl, she prefers to scatter her food and bury it in her blankets before enjoying it later. It’s one of her many quirky habits that make her all the more endearing.

Layla will thrive in a calm, patient home with adopters who have experience working with shy or timid dogs. She’s not the kind of dog who will immediately seek affection, but with time, consistency, and love, she has the potential to build strong bonds and come out of her shell.

If you’re looking for a rewarding opportunity to help a shy dog grow into her best self, Layla may be the perfect addition to your home.

Adoption Fee: $500 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
