History: Laika is a beautiful medium size girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She arrived to rescue timid and unsure of the world around her however has been making good strides in her trust and confidence. She is officially ready to meet her forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Laika is a beautiful young girl that recently came to rescue from a breeder background. She came in unsure of people and new situations. Laika is learning to trust and what it means to be loved. She does well with the two resident dogs in her foster home, and takes the lead from them. She will seek out the other dogs for comfort and direction when she is unsure or startled. Loud noises and quick movements frighten her. As she has had more exposure to new things, Laika continues to learn that these things are not quite so scary.
Laika can be a playful girl and has begun initiating play in the backyard with the resident dogs. She enjoys getting her zoomies out by running and playing chase in the fenced in back yard of her foster home.
Laika is working on potty training, and does well with a schedule. She sleeps in her kennel through the night, and keeps things clean. Laika continues to work on building her confidence, walking on a leash (which means exploring the world beyond her crate) and building trust with people. In her foster home, she has a preferred person that she seeks out to sniff.
Laika would do best in a home with a patient family that will help her continue to build trust with people and new situations. Laika will flourish in a calm and loving home committed to helping Laika continue to experience new things and people.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
