History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!
When Knox arrived to rescue, we noticed he had some trouble using his back legs. He has some joint changes and neurologic symptoms that make it harder for him to get around. This is not unusual in older large breed dogs. He is doing really well with an NSAID for discomfort and we trying some laser therapy to see if that can make him feel even better.
A Note from the Foster: Knox has been a joy to have in our house. He gets along great with our dog and is quite the hit with all of our neighbors!!! There is something so special about the way he looks directly into your eyes! In a previous foster’s home he was great with their cats, dogs and kids too!!
Knox is an older distinguished gentlemen! He enjoys lying in the sun on our front walk or on one of his many dog beds! I have not kenneled Knox and have not had any issues when I leave him free alone in the house (though I think he would do fine in a kennel.) He sleeps (you guessed it!) on a comfy dog bed next my bed.
Knox loves to go on walks and does really well on a leash, but as an older gentleman does not require a lot of exercise to drain his energy. He is just happy to be with you whether on a walk, in the car or anywhere you are in your home!!
Knox is SO deserving to spend this stage of his life with a loving family that just wants to have a devoted companion. Could that be you?

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
