Kianna

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Mini Poodle
Age: DOB: 12/2018
Weight: 11 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- needs another dog in the home
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Older or No Kids Ideal
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Kianna is a beautiful adult lady who needed a second chance at a good life. She is working hard on her trust and confidence and will thrive in a patient and quiet environment!

A Note from the Foster: The evening Kianna arrived at rescue on a late January night, she was entirely shut down and clinging to the back of the kennel. We brought her home along with two other fosters that welcomed Kianna to join them in the pen outside of the kennel. After a couple days of calmness Kianna began to move out and greet the other two. The three of them graduated to the couch during the day and would nap on each other like puppies.

We next moved on to walking one would go down the stairs and the others we would carry Kiki would not leash walk with us. Then two would take the stairs and Kiki would not walk with us. Soon the two were adopted and Kianna was on her own. We worked on walking and one day of casual trying Kianna surprised me and was strolling on the leash with me then going potty outside while on the leash. Now if I even show her a leash she is ready!

Next came nonchalant licks on the had and some petting. Slowly when she would get excited to see us there would be some quiet excitement play.

Shine was now back in her eyes, she was confident and curious on walks and pottying outside when taking.

Kianna loves to snuggle on the couch and sleep on us. She is sweet, beautiful and minds her own business. She likes dogs that nurture her and not pick on her. She is very kind though still skiddish. One day she will be amazing from the progress I have seen.

She needs patience.

A calm house.

A nurturing friend.

I personally think energetic children would frighten her.

No stairs yet, but I know they will come with soft patience.

If you would like to be lucky enough to continue to work with Kianna, you will be lucky enough to experience small miracles.

Adoption Fee: $500 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
