History: I am a dog from the Out of the Cold Rescue Effort!
We recently were arrived back to rescue with over 400+ dogs and 20+ cats looking for a second chance after being surrendered to rescue. They are each going through their own individual journeys while in rescue- many needing extensive medical attention for orthopedic care, dentals, skin issues, etc. Other health concerns were goopy eyes, ear infections, mange, and in need of a good bath and grooming.
These deserving souls will get all the care they need and be ready to go home to your family soon!
A note from the foster: Kelly is our first foster dog and has been a great dog for our first fostering experience! She has become more independent, but still likes to be around her people. Kelly has never met a stranger she didn’t like and has been friendly in her encounters with people, both adults and younger kids. She has seemed a little nervous/unsure when she has been in situations with a lot of people and stimulation and will bark a little, but relaxes fairly quickly. She is really good about playing with her toys and keeping herself busy.
Kelly likes to play with her foster dog sister, but is a little "bossy" and can be dominant in that she wants to be the dog getting the attention (over our resident dog). She has not been around cats, so unsure how she would do with them; however, she does seem to have a bit of a higher prey drive and is really interested in squirrels when she sees them. She loves being outside and playing fetch. She still doesn't like being alone in her kennel and can be vocal if she knows that we are home and awake without her. She does pretty good most of the time with going into her kennel when told, she just needs encouragement with treats and will usually go right in.
Kelly has learned "sit," "shake," and "lay down" and is working on "stay" and "down," because she can get a little excited and jumpy at times. She is a good eater, keeps her kennel clean and dry, hasn't had any accidents in the house, and does great in a car. She has a good balance of puppy energy and being able to chill out. Kelly would make a great companion for anyone, whether a single person or a family. Kelly has a lot of love to give to everyone-and she definitely shows it by cuddling up to everyone that pets her and gives her attention.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsively more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
