History: Journey is a super beautiful girl who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart with her smile and happy personality. She has her paws crossed to find her forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Journey is a sweet girl. She doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body. She is very shy but has really come out of her shell in the last few months. She seems to trust everyone the same way and doesn't really play favorites. She never barks and I find that she sleeps most of the day. She loves her kennel and sleeps with the door open all night. You'll find her there and she would probably love to have one in the living room as well just to hang out in. She comes to work with me everyday. We have a cavalier, a chihuahua, and two pitbulls at the office and she loves all of them. She would be okay in a home with older kids but she's fast enough to get away from the younger ones too. She LOVES going on walks and gets very excited when you put the leash on. She does her potty business outside and makes it through the night without any accidents. I just leave her wander in the fenced yard and go at her own pace but she will also go on a leash. We have the occasional accident in the house but overall I give her a solid B. She does great in the car and just lays down to sleep on any open seat. I leave her out of her kennel if I leave for a period of time, she doesn't chew on anything other than the bill of all my favorite hats. We learned to put those up and I've seen her play with a toy three times already! Okay, here's her weakness....she is very timid. She tries really hard to not get caught. She's doing better in the morning since she knows we are going to the office. She's fine if we approach her from both sides. She just stands there and waits for you to pick her up but with just one person it can be challenging and frustrating. A single owner would be hard. She's very fast and agile and has escaped twice but got tired and let us take her home but she's a flight risk if you left a gate open. She doesn't snuggle much but will jump up on the couch if there's room for her on the end. She lets you hold her just fine but you can tell she'd rather be down. I think with time she will warm up but likely months not days.
She eats on her own will and never gets possessive of food or water. She will make a great addition to a family that wants a precious girl that needs time to adjust. She's lived such an awful life, it's only natural she's timid of people. Please shower her with the love she deserves!
Adoption Fee: $510 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
