Hoover

Adoption Status: Pending

Gender: Male
Breed: Shih Tzu
Age: Est DOB: 12/2024
Weight: 11 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- would do best w/ another dog in the home
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Hoover is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Hoover (affectionately known as Hoovy or Buddy) is a total sweetheart with the most adorable face, a big happy smile, and the softest, fluffiest, cloud-like fur you’ll ever touch. He’s a cuddle expert who loves being close — whether it’s snuggling in your lap, curling up in your neck, or trotting alongside you on daily adventures. He’s also a professional napper and a champion at giving kisses!

This lovable guy enjoys exploring the great outdoors and is always up for a walk or a joyful romp around the yard. He’s recently discovered the magic of tennis balls and proudly carries his favorite one around like a treasure. Since we don’t have a fenced-in yard, Hoover is learning to walk on a leash — and he’s doing great!

Potty training is going well — Hoover thrives on a consistent schedule and has had success with outdoor potty breaks. While he’s had a couple of accidents in his kennel, he’s been clean around the house.

Hoover is still getting used to the sounds of the world and can be startled by loud or unexpected noises, but he’s making amazing progress and growing more confident every day. He’s curious, adventurous, and does well on car rides — especially if he gets to sit on your lap!

He’s not a big fan of his kennel just yet, especially during the day or overnight, but he’s improving with time and patience. Because of this, Hoover may not be the best fit for a home with shared walls.

This sweet boy is working hard to learn all the new things that come with being a beloved companion — from house manners to basic commands. He’s been around kids aged 11 and up and has done wonderfully. He’s also very interested in the other foster dog in our home and would likely thrive with a confident, similarly-sized canine buddy to show him the ropes and share in playtime.

Hoover is a total love bug who wiggles with joy when he sees people and adores attention. He’s ready to be your loyal best friend and adventure partner — all he needs is a loving home to call his own.

Note: Hoover is scheduled for his neuter surgery on November 4th and is eligible for our foster-to-adopt program.

Adoption Fee: $560 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
