History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own!
A Note from the Foster: Harlen is a young, playful pup who brings goofy joy everywhere he goes. He’s currently in a foster home learning all the basics, and he’s proving to be a smart, social little guy with a lot of potential.
This cutie is still teething, so he sometimes needs gentle reminders not to treat your shoes—or your pant legs—as chew toys, especially when you’re walking. He loves to wrestle with his littermate and is getting braver about taking on his 40-pound foster sister, even though she still wins most matches. Harlen also gets chilly easily, so his foster mom makes sure he’s bundled up in a tiny sweater for outdoor adventures (adorable, right?).
He’s not fully potty trained yet, but he’s already showing great habits: in his playpen, he consistently uses the designated potty area with pee pads. With age, consistency, and more access to the home, he should be very trainable.
Harlen’s foster mom thinks he may be a mix of shepherd, husky (he has the cutest little howls), Doberman, and maybe a bully breed. What we can say for sure is that he’s a dense, sturdy little guy who’s getting heavier by the week. He probably won’t grow very tall, but he’s shaping up to be a squattier, thicker boy with lots of personality.
Harlen currently lives with two young children who adore carrying him around. He enjoys their attention, but he can get mouthy and likes to play with long hair or nibble on socks—those puppy teeth are no joke! Because of this, dog-savvy kids who understand puppy behavior would be the best match for him.
At night, he loves nothing more than curling up in a cozy dog bed with a fuzzy blanket. He’s good with other dogs and enjoys their company, though having a canine friend is a bonus, not a requirement.
If you’re looking for a lovable, chunky, playful pup who’s ready to learn the ropes and cuddle his way into your heart, Harlen might be the perfect match. Apply to meet him today! 🐾💛

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
