Q-2

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Labrador Retriever & Pitbull Terrier Mix
Age: Est DOB: 09/2023
Weight: 46 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- w/ slow intros
Cat Friendly: Yes
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Yes

History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue efforts continue all winter long as we have recently welcomed another deserving group from our rural area partners in North Dakota.

A Note from the Foster: Q-2 is a wonderful, wonderful dog. She is timid with new people and places, and likely has been in some unfortunate situations that she did not deserve. But once she warms up to you and learns that she can trust you, you will fall in love with her. She is an absolute love bug. She is sweet, cuddly, silly, fun, and so smart.

Her foster family has been calling her "Q-2", "Q", "Q-ey", and "Kiwi". She seems to respond fine to all of them.

She sleeps quietly in her crate at night, stays in it for a few hours during the day when she's alone, and goes in it on her own when she needs some alone time. Then when her people come let her out, she is happy to play, snuggle, practice her training, sit in the yard, go for a walk, etc. She's down for whatever! She has also never had an accident in her foster home, and goes potty quickly once she's taken outside. She even has a favorite poop spot in the yard.

She is a bit of a chewer, so she'll need some favorite chew toys. She's somewhat picky with toys, but isn't picky with treats. She's very food motivated, but is also patient with treats and food. She won't grab them out of your hand - she will wait until it's handed to her. She does not resource guard either. If you pet her while she is eating, she will stop eating to enjoy the pets.

Sometimes she will observe other dogs with curiosity, especially if they are just walking down the street. But if another dog gets close we have seen her stare, growl, or bark. It seems to be more defensive than a desire to play, but we are working on it. If her adoptive family already has a dog they will just want to be patient with slow introductions and good training. She's great with cats and great with kids. She is learning not to jump up on people, as well as other basic commands.

She knows her permitted rooms in the house, and even when the dog gate is open she typically does not try to cross the threshold.

She really is the complete package. She is just slow to trust. But once you get in her "circle", you will be rewarded with a best friend for life. Could you provide her the home full of love and safety that she deserves?

She also hopes her new home comes with a comfy couch.

Thank you for considering her!

Adoption Fee: $510 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
