Fitz

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: Havanese
Age: DOB: 01/2025
Weight: 12 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- needs another dog in the home
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Older or No Kids Ideal
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Fitz is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome who is working on his trust and confidence and hopes to find his forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Fitz is a handsome 1-year-old Havanese with a gentle heart and a quiet, observant nature. As a breeder-release pup, he’s still learning what it means to feel safe and comfortable in a home — and watching him discover the world in his own way has been really special.

Fitz is the definition of a “watch first, trust later” kind of dog. He takes his time getting to know new people and prefers to observe from a distance before deciding to engage. While he’s not ready for cuddles just yet, he is starting to show little “glimmer” moments — following his people around, coming closer to investigate, and even taking treats when he feels safe.

One of Fitz’s favorite things? Being outside. Give him a yard and a little space, and you’ll see his personality shine — zoomies, curiosity, and even some playful moments start to come out. It’s a glimpse into the happy, carefree dog he’s becoming.

Fitz absolutely lights up around other dogs and takes great comfort in their presence. He would do best in a home with a confident, friendly dog who can help show him the ropes and build his confidence. He watches, learns, and gains bravery from his canine companions.

Because of his sensitive nature, Fitz is looking for a very specific kind of home:

A calm, patient household willing to let him move at his own pace

A confident, social resident dog would be helpful

A securely fenced yard would be a great fit — he’s beginning to enjoy walks but still prefers the freedom to explore at his own pace

Someone home often or able to provide consistency

Dog-savvy children or an adult-only home (he does best in a predictable, low-pressure environment)

Fitz is not the kind of dog who will be your instant best friend — but for the right person, he will be incredibly rewarding. He is already showing that he wants to trust, he just needs someone willing to meet him where he’s at and celebrate the small wins along the way.

If you have a soft spot for the shy ones and understand that the best bonds are built with time, Fitz might just be your perfect match.

Adoption Fee: $560 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
