Fenella

Adoption Status: Pending

Gender: Female
Breed: Cairn Terrier
Age: Est DOB: 08/2019
Weight: 19 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Fenella is a super beautiful girl who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart with her smile and happy personality. She has her paws crossed to find her forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Fanella (who has been going by Potato in our house) has been a brave soul. She is curious, energetic, playful, and likes to be in the middle of everything. While she's still learning to snuggle, she does seek out attention and is glad to flop near you for belly rubs. She loves sunbathing on our back deck (Baked Potato), frolicing in the fenced yard with our resident dog (a 100 lb St Bernard mix), and playing with/destroying toys (Spicy Potato). She's working on potty training.  She's pretty good on a leash and loves going for walks. She plays fetch and keep-away like a champ, and has an amazing puppy eye as well as side eye.

This former momma will be an amazing addition to any family as she seems to do well with kids, men, women, and new things. She hasn't been startled by fast movements, loud noises, or anything like that.  The only thing we can find that she doesn't like is the blow dryer after baths. We can't vouch for how she will do with cats, but I would steer clear of any small animals like guinea pigs and hamsters due to her breed. (We've seen her hunt voles in our back yard; the instinct is strong with this one.) Similarly, she went after my wool yarn because it smelled very intriguing to her.

Worth noting -- Cairn Terriers are as close to hypoallergenic as you can get with a dog and has caused no allergy issues in our house.  She is low/no shedding, but requires brushing to pull loose and dead hair out. (She loves a good brushing, so it's not a chore.)

Adoption Fee: $560 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
