History: Emmitt is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Meet Emmitt!
Emmitt is a fun-loving little guy with a heart full of love to give. He’s happiest playing with any kind of ball and romping around with his two larger foster siblings. Emmitt gets along wonderfully with both small and large dogs and would truly thrive in a home with another canine companion.
He’s also a total people pup — you’ll often find him right at your heels, eager to snuggle and shower you with kisses.
Emmitt is working hard on his potty training and does best when kept on a consistent schedule. He’s doing great overnight and has very few accidents. Because he’s still young, he’ll also benefit from a basic obedience class (which is required for all dogs under two years old).
As a Shih Tzu, Emmitt will need regular grooming every 4–6 weeks to keep his coat fluffy, clean, and soft.
Like many young dogs, Emmitt is still learning the ropes of being a house pup. He’ll need a patient family willing to help him continue his potty training and manners — and to keep an eye on their belongings! He has been known to proudly parade off with a bathroom rug or two.
If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick and a sweet, snuggly companion to come home to, Emmitt is your guy!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
