History: We recently were asked to help a local group of mom, her older daughter, and 3 young puppies from a drug bust situation. They arrived to rescue covered in fleas and in desperate need of help. They have settled into foster homes and doing well! Flea-Free :)
A Note from the Foster: Desert is an absolute gem of a gal!! She is all about the love and snuggles! The best puppy dog eyes that will always look up at you to make sure you're still there ready to give her attention. She also loves a comfy spot to sleep, even better if that spot is next to or on you.
She goes easily into her kennel at night as long as she knows you're in the same room but would prefer to be in your bed if you'll let her. Desert deals with a bit of separation anxiety when left alone but can be trusted out of the kennel during this time, she's learning what the good life looks like and with additional training she'll be a pro at this in no time.
Desert has had a rough start to her life arriving to Coco's undernourished with fleas and a little alopecia. She's been so happy to take this time to rest, get regular meals with lots of healthy treats, and learn how to take walks and play. Speaking of which, Desert is a good walker, she responds well to direction and doesn't pull but walking in a straight line is a work in progress. She is learning to play chase and ball but still learning that you are supposed to bring the ball back.
Desert is still a little skittish with quick or loud noises or movement. This should be better as she acclimates to her new surroundings.
Her best quality is wanting to make you happy!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
