Delaney

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Maltese
Age: Est DOB: 05/2017
Weight: 8 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Delaney is a beautiful girl who was returned to rescue when she developed allergies in her adopted home. She is on an allergy medication and is doing well! She is hoping to find a committed forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Delaney is an 8 pound, 8 year old bundle of love.  She has yet to meet a lap she doesn’t love to sit in!  If she can be in your sight or sitting near you that will be okay with her too.

When we have left Delaney no matter how short it may be, she has let us know with a few barks at us that she is not happy about it, but quickly settles down and is content. She also lets us know with a few barks and whines that we have forgotten to take her with us, but settles down after.  She will go off on her own and chill out by herself often as well.

Delaney is curious, and loves to watch the world go by.  She has started to explore my fenced in backyard and gotten a kick out of the squirrels running away from her. She is also an excellent car traveler.

Delaney will use her kennel to rest in, and goes in there on her own.  However, she loves to sleep next to her human..she is willing to share it with you, but seems to think it is all hers!

She is starting to come towards me, but her first tendency is to run away if you approach her.  Yet, she will stop to turn to see if you are following her.   She will look scared when approached, and hunker down to the ground, but don’t let her fool you, she is begging you to pick her up!  She has showed me she can stop, and sit and stay, but still needs consistent practice.   She does well going to the bathroom outside and a few times has shown me she needs to go, but again, with consistent practice this should be no problem.

She has been with other dogs, even big ones-intimated her at first, but then she growled back to show she was done with them. She has been fine with kids, adults, and loved her foster sisters from a previous foster placement.  She’s into little toys when she is ready to play.

As long as Delaney can be near you, and near a lap, she will be happy.

Adoption Fee: $510 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
