Danica

Adoption Status: Pending

Gender: Female
Breed: Mini Aussiedoodle (reported)
Age: Est DOB: 10/2024
Weight: 15 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Danica is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with her sweet and gentle temperament. She is hoping to find her forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Danica is a sweet and timid pup, who is just under a year old. She has only been in rescue since the middle of August when she was thankfully given up by an irresponsible breeder. Danica (Dani as we call her) will be another success story after given the time and love she needs to recover from the neglect she experienced in her short life. She has become a really good snuggler with me, gives kisses, and has started wagging her tail when I return home. She has found toys and drags them up onto the couch where she leaves them since she's not so sure what to do with them yet. She has not gotten to the point where she loves the great outdoors and she doesn't appreciate walking on a leash for exercise but that may change, or it may not, and instead she may just continue to enjoy the comfort of the indoors.

I did my best to write according to Danica's perspective!

"I didn't realize that there was a much bigger world out there until I arrived at my foster family's home in mid August. The world seems so big and there are so many things for me to be aware of that I haven't figured out how to take advantage of my new circumstances, yet.... I will get there eventually but I need a family to be patient, kind, understanding and give me time to adjust to a new home.

The first person I have ever been able to trust is my foster mom.It took about a week but then I realized that she fed me healthy food and fresh water, gave me a comfortable dog bed in a safe area where I could watch what was going on around me but was not forced to engage, and cleaned up after me if I made a little mess. I'm still nervous about spending time outside since there is just so much open space around me and I don't ever remember being outside on grass or being on a leash. I am trying to learn that I should go potty outside but I really appreciate that  my foster family has a little gated area where my kennel is kept, usually with the door open so that I can choose to lay in it or come out for a potty break on the clean potty pads. Since I'm pretty small, it hasn't been much for them to clean up but I'm trying to be brave and follow the other 2 dogs that live here outside and follow their example on potty breaks.I'm really pretty good at peeing outside, it just takes me longer to poop and I get nervous. Please remember that this idea is brand new to me, and maybe I will figure it out tomorrow but I may not figure it out for a little while yet, so if you aren't up for helping me learn, you may get upset with me, so I would ask some other nice Coco's people for other dogs that may be further along than me. My foster family doesn't have a fenced in yard and my foster mom thinks my potty deal may improve faster if I did have one because of what she noticed when we borrowed the neighbor's fenced in yard. I ran to another part of the yard quickly and did my business, away from others, and then ran back to her for protection of whatever is out here in the great outdoors."

If you choose me to be your family member just know that I don't think I would mind having a doggy brother or sister but I just need some space to observe them first before trusting that I am safe. I spent some time observing them before we were allowed to be face to face and sniff each other. I would probably be just fine as an only "child" as well because once I trust you, you will probably be the center of my world. I haven't met a cat yet, my foster mom says she doesn't imagine that I would be a problem for a cat. I have briefly met some kids but haven't spent time with them in a home and my foster mom says that she imagines they would put me on edge, for some amount of time anyways.

If you are up for putting the time and work in to help me become a loving member of your family, then please reach out to Coco's so that you can meet me in person and talk with my foster family. Hopefully they will be able to tell you about the progress I continue to make with potty training and being comfortable in more environments than my favorite place which is their family room!

What we as her foster family know without a doubt is that this cutie deserves a life with people who will love her and want to experience the joy of helping a dog become confident and able to show her appreciation for the wonderful life that she deserves to live!

Adoption Fee: $750 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
