Crescent

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Labrador Retriever & Shepherd Mix
Age: Est DOB: 06/2024
Weight: 34 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- needs another dog in the home
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Older or No Kids
House Trained: Yes

History: We recently welcomed a deserving group of kiddos from an overcrowded shelter who needed a second chance to a good life. They are unique and so special in their own ways and each hoping to find forever homes of their own soon!

A Note from the Foster: Crescent is a sweet, smart and playful girl who had an unfortunate incident with an adoption recently.  She was returned to rescue after biting at her new family's 5 year old shortly after they brought her home. Thankfully the bite wasn’t too serious but it did, understandably,  spook the family, and was especially upsetting to the 5 year old.  While she displayed no aggressive behavior with the children at the meet and greet (nor has she displayed any aggressive behavior with us) it illustrates how important the 3/3/3 rule is,  allowing newly adopted dogs to have time alone to adjust to their new settings, no matter how friendly they seem.  It was a sad incident for both Crescent and the family and she is ready to put it behind her.

This cute little girl is house broken and potties well outside.  We go outside regularly throughout the day, but when she is in her crate, she keeps it clean.  Indoors, she likes to explore but also likes to cuddle up to our Adult Golden Retriever.  I think she would like to have another dog in the house, but she does have an independent streak, so would probably do fine with just her people.

Crescent sleeps soundly all night,  in our room, on her dog bed, and LOVES a good snuggle in the morning after she comes back in from potty time.  She will bark occasionally if startled or if our resident dog is barking at the UPS driver.  But it is not loud or persistent by any means.  She likes her kennel and usually goes in there after dinner, on her own, when we are watching TV.  If I need to get her in there during the day, all it takes is a treat and she’s in.

Her favorite place to be is outdoors taking walks or chasing after chipmunks.  She has multiple dog friends that she plays well with in our large outdoor kennel. She LOVES to run and play and prance around with her toys.  She does like shoes, so we have to make sure to put them away and have plenty of chew toys to distract her.

Crescent likes people but based on her history, is probably not appropriate for a family with small children. I haven't seen her interact with cats. We just haven't been around them.

Overall, Crescent would probably be an easy fit in most homes. She likes affection and cuddling, and LOVES a good belly rub but doesn't beg for it.  She's perfectly happy just to be close to us. .  Crescent will be a great dog for her forever family.

Adoption Fee: $550 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
