Comet

Adoption Status: Pending

Gender: Male
Breed: St Bernard Mix
Age: Est DOB: 11/2024
Weight: 63 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Seems to be
Kid Friendly: Seems to be
House Trained: Yes

History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own!

A Note from the Foster: This handsome pup is a must meet! He has been a role model dog and respectful with everyone and everything in our household. His calm energy and super soft coat is sure to fit a wide range of potential pet parents.

Comets favorite activities are: Napping after a nice walk. Napping during car rides. Napping calmly and quietly in his crate overnight and during the workday. He is also fond of exploring and evaluating our home for potential future napping spots. Don't let his energetic name fool you, Comet is an old soul in a young pup's body!

He seems fully potty trained and hasn't had a single accident in our home, making full use of the 3-4 outside breaks he gets. This gentle boy is walking to heel naturally without command and responds well to very gentle leash guidance. He knows 'sit' and will need work on 'place', 'stay', 'down' and 'come'. He appreciates a good snack and is eager to learn when treats come out. We haven't found a toy that piques his interest yet, but he loves a natural chew... followed by a nice nap of course.

Comet gets along well with our resident puppy. Playing nicely, and appreciates us advocating for his space with breaks from puppy crazy energy. He has been dog neutral on neighborhood walks and also seems neutral to our resident outdoor cat. He has really taken to our 13yr old daughter, seeming to appreciate calm older kids, but has gotten along with everyone he meets. I consider him a semi-velcro dog; wanting to be next to you, but not ON you or snuggled into you. He is very respectful of space and seems to appreciate it in return. With time and trust I could see this pup becoming someone's natural heated cuddle plushie.

Forget that red nosed reindeer, Comet needs a nap by your fire this holiday season.

Adoption Fee: $560 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
