History: Chewie FKA Burger Queen was born in rescue back in 2018 along with her 3 littermates to a beautiful brindle medium size momma dog. She was recently returned to rescue at 7 years old due to no longer being a match for her home and the other dog in the home. Chewie is doing well settling back into rescue and hopes to find her forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Chewie is a sweet, loving and loyal dog. She is housetrained and loves her people. She is 7 years old, but don't let that deter you. She has a wonderful amount of energy and so, so much love to give! She is so calm, except when you return from an errand, then she greets you with a wagging tail and kisses.
Chewie loves to go on walks and to be outdoors. She is great on a leash! You can also count her in for camping, hiking, and kayaking. Chewie is even good at sleeping in a tent! Don't like camping? Then she is not opposed to snuggling with you on the couch as you binge watch your favorite show! She loves belly rubs and playing fetch with favorite stuffed toys indoors. As you can tell, she is pretty much a go with the flow kind of gal.
She enjoys following her people around the house and loves to be close to you. She will announce when someone is at your house, but is otherwise quiet. She knows the commands like sit, shake, wait, down, lay down, leave it, spin around, and her recall is very good! She is a quick learner and loves positive reinforcement with training treats when on walks. Chewie even turns around occasionally while walking to check in and boops her nose on your hand, even without treats. She has the gentlest mouth getting treats from you.
Chewie is not a fan of being in a crate. That is just too tight of a fit for this sweet girl. Thankfully she is reliable and can be out when her people are away. She gladly takes medications in peanut butter to help her with anxiety when she is left alone.
Chewie is great around adults, teens and even gentle with toddlers.
She will do best being the only animal in the house though she does great walking alongside her dog friends while leashed. Other dogs and cats in her home around her toys or treats are just not her style and make her feel anxious. Plus, she just would love to have you all to herself. She would be your next best friend!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
