History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Chatsworth is a 13.5 lb. Chihuahua Mix who came to Coco's Heart Dog Rescue from Houston, TX. He is very handsome and very quiet! He was with me for two weeks before he ever barked (at the UPS truck). He was a little timid when he arrived. He has warmed up to me and his canine companions. He has learned to walk on a leash and come when he's called. He sits on command for a treat. He is submissive and dog friendly. He enjoys being outside and exploring and playing with my resident dog. He and the cat are tolerant of each other. Of course, the cat can run and jump where no dog can follow. Chatsworth sleeps in a pen and waits to get outside to do his potty business. One of his favorite things is his naps. He likes attention and having his chest, head and back petted. He would do well in a home with canine and human companions to hang out with. He hasn't been around children at my home, but I think he would be happy to have some kids to play with. He's a sweet and gentle soul.
Adoption Fee: $550 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
