Charlie

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Pitbull Terrier Mix
Age: Est DOB: 11/2024
Weight: 34 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- would do best w/ another dog
Cat Friendly: With dog-savvy cats
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Doing great!

History: We welcomed a group recently from a partnering organization of ours, Villalobos Animal Rescue. These kiddos are SO sweet, social, friendly, and already have a great start at basic obedience and mannerisms.

A Note from the Foster: I would like everyone to meet Charlie. Charlie is a happy 9 month old 34 pound pitbull puppy.  Don't let her let her name fool you, she is a sweet girl but with a little Tomboy mixed in.  She is shy when meeting new people, but given some time she will warm up to you and soon you will end up with a little black shadow following you everywhere you go. However if you have another dog she will come right up to the dog, and you, to say 'Hi' just like you have been friends forever.  Because of her shyness, having another dog in the house will help her adjust and gain more confidence.

Charlie is very dog friendly and wants to play with every dog she meets.  However she is also very respectful to other dogs and if they don't want to play she will not push it. She is fine with the resident cats but if the kitty runs she will chase.

She is crate trained and goes right into her crate at night and sleeps all night without a peep.

We are working on potty training, and the accidents she has had are more on me not seeing or understanding her cues telling me she needs to go outside.  She has not had an accident for about a week now so I think I have figured it out.

Charlie is a typical pitbull puppy.  When she comes out of her crate in the morning she has a little ritual of stretching and pulling herself along on her belly with her back legs being dragged behind her. She loves to play hard with her big foster brother and then falls asleep, or better described as collapses, wherever she happens to be.  But if no one wants to play she is very content to sit and chew on her toys.

Charlie is very smart and learns quickly.  When I was potty training her I thought I would try the bells on the door so she could tell me when she had to go potty.  She figured out real quick that when she rang the bell she could go outside, so she was ringing the bell all of the time because she wanted to go play outside and not just to go potty.  So she was able to train me faster than I was able to train her.

Charlie has had a rough start to life but now thanks to Coco's things are looking up.  She knows that her forever family, and her forever dog brother or sister, is out there and they will show her how good life can be.

Adoption Fee: $510 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
