Calvin

Adoption Status: Pending

Gender: Male
Breed: Cavalier & Mini Poodle Mix
Age: DOB: 07/2025
Weight: Approx 5 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- would do best with another dog
Cat Friendly: Yes
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Calvin is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Our wee ginger friend Calvin joined us about two weeks ago and has been doing so well settling in and getting used to the world and being a little dog in it.

He’s a little bitty Cavapoo weighing in at just a bit over 5 pounds but is working on some big dog vibes as he is coming out of his shell and showing his spunky sassy side.

Common with many breeder release dogs, he arrived pretty reserved and pensive about all the new things coming his way but he has done incredibly well adapting and learning while adjusting to being in a safe and love filled home full of other critters helping show him what the good life can be.

He’s not a huge fan of being in a kennel and prefers to be very close to our resident dogs or humans. He does calm down once he’s in and we think with continued practice and greater confidence he’ll do great in a crate as needed.

He’s got potty training down pretty well with consistent opportunities to go outside. He does surprisingly well in leash for walks and really likes a trot through the park. He’s only chewing on dog friendly toys and chewies, isn’t super food motivated and is working on taking treats directly from our hands. He loves to be held and snoozing with the other small breeds dogs.

He seems to do well with people of all ages - though he is still very cautious with people and can get spooked by sudden movements or loud noises. He slipped right in with our resident dogs, is curious about our big kitty and ferrets.

He’s the sweetest little button and will make someone the most darling purse puppy ever. We think he’d do best in a home with another dog friend that could keep him company and be a dog mentor continuing to help his confidence.

Adoption Fee: Our adoption fees typically vary from $510-$1260 + tax. Our coordinator will be in touch with you with specific information during the application processing. For more information on where our animals come from, here is some additional information. Thank you!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
