Calloway

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: Bichon Frise
Age: DOB: 03/2019
Weight: 14 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- needs another dog in the home
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Calloway is a handsome boy who arrived to rescue completely matted and needed to be fully shaved down and WOW! Did he feel better. He is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever home.

A Note from the Foster: Meet Calloway (Cal), a shy but super sweet and silly 6 year old Bichon!

Calloway is still learning to trust people, although he has come a long way in just two months with us! We have learned to notice and appreciate all his small accomplishments! What was once a very shut down dog is now a pup that will rest his chin on your foot in bed, sit on the kitchen rug and watch you cook, and wag his tail when you come home from work! He may not be a lap dog at this time, but we do feel he is starting to enjoy hugs and scratches.

His goofy side is starting to show through. He is impossible to be mad at because any sign that he is comfortable being himself is a win! He will take a patient family to continue to work on his confidence around people and new experiences.

Calloway needs another calm, confident dog friend in the home to show him the ropes. His favorite thing to do is snuggle up with his foster brother in a sunny spot. He is the typical pesky little brother - always having to do exactly what his older foster brother is doing! What cracks us up the most is Cal chasing his foster brother around the yard. Calloway is much shorter and slower but still runs behind him with the biggest grin on his face! The difference in his confidence when he is alone versus with another dog is immense. He would make the perfect companion.

Calloway is so gentle. Never has he nipped or shown any aggression, even when he’s scared or his foster brother tries to steal his food. He knows which toys are his foster brothers and happily obliges. He has never lived with kids, however he has been around kids at adoption events and is very mild-mannered and seems to know that kids are kind.

He sleeps well throughout the night in his crate and has come far with potty training. Easy access to a yard, such as a fenced in yard, would be great so he can go outside more freely as he continues potty training.

Other things we have learned he is a “rockstar” at is getting his nails trimmed by foster mom, taking baths and riding in the car! These are often pain points with other dogs but not Calloway!

We hope he finds a calm and patient home where Calloway can continue to learn, thrive and keep you entertained!

Adoption Fee: $500 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
