History: Boone is a super handsome and sweet boy who was hit by a car this past Fall and was at risk of euthanasia due to surgery expenses. He was surrendered to rescue where he received the repair of a fractured leg foreleg. He has been doing well in his recovery and is ready to start his journey
A note from the foster: Boone is the sweetest boy! We've had him for about 3 1/2 weeks and he's made himself right at home. He is 9 months old now and loves people so much! Everyone who meets him thinks he is fantastic and he loves to be as close as he can to everyone. Playing tug and wrestling with our 9 year old resident lab are some of his favorite activities and they just love it! They became fast friends and are really good at sharing toys and respecting each others food. We did have to work on that a bit at the beginning, but now they are doing great. Boone hasn't been around any younger kids yet, as we only have teenagers at our house. We are still working on keeping him down and not jumping on people or counter surfing. He's learning, but he just gets so excited we have to remind him and work patiently with him. He is so laid back, though he doesn't mind keeping his leash on in the house so we can help him learn. Boone loves to look out the windows at all the squirrels and rabbits and is a very enthusiastic tracker when we take him outside. We hold him tight because he is a very strong boy and gets extremely excited out there! He is doing great with going to the door and letting us know when he needs to go outside and he only complains for a few minutes when we put him in his kennel to leave or go to bed. He is such a great dog, we already love him so much! We can't wait to meet the lucky people who are interested in making Boone their forever dog.
Adoption Fee: $750 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsively more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
