History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: 🐾 Meet Bjorn! 🐾
This handsome 10-month-old Alaskan Malamute is now ready to find his forever family. Weighing in at 80lbs of pure fluff and love, Bjorn is an affectionate, attention-loving guy who thrives on belly rubs, long pets, and outdoor adventures—especially in cool weather.
He’s incredibly smart, curious, and responds well to redirection as he explores the world and learns new things. He walks well on a leash, is almost potty trained, and sleeps soundly through the night on a cool floor.
But let’s be real—Bjorn is still a pup and needs structure, training, and lots of exercise. Malamutes are known for their energy and intelligence, and Bjorn is no exception. He needs mental and physical stimulation every day and isn’t suited for a sedentary or solitary lifestyle.
He doesn’t like to be alone and we’re working on crate training—he’s up to 90 minutes! We’ve got the heavy duty crates for his safety because he will break out of a normal crate. He is a strong guy has a powerful jaw and loves to chew. Supervision is a must during playtime, as he can easily chew through leashes and toys. However, he is smart enough to know what he can chew and what he shouldn’t – although he does like to test this if you tell him no, he will stop. But you do have to keep a watchful eye.
He’s shown signs of prey drive, so he shouldn't be placed with small dogs, cats, or small animals. He needs a confident, experienced adopter who understands the breed and can give him the structure, attention, and daily exercise he needs to thrive.
In short: Bjorn is a stunning, smart, lovable goofball with big potential—but he’s not low-maintenance. He needs an active, present, and engaged home that’s ready for the adventure of raising a working-breed pup.
Think you’re the one? Reach out to learn more about adopting Bjorn and giving him the loving, structured home he deserves.
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
