History: Birdella is a beautiful adult lady who needed a second chance at a good life. She is super sweet and friendly who is officially ready to start her journey in finding her forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Birdie is the sweetest, most easy going pup! She seemed to adapt to her new foster home very quickly and was napping with the other dogs and following us around the home within a day. She is just a sweet ball of fluff looking for her future family.
Birdie is down for anything! Folding laundry? Cool! Making dinner? Count her in, she'll be there! Reading on the couch? Her nose is in the book with you. Pacing around the house on a phone call? She's at your heels wondering why you're playing a game with her. Despite her unfortunate background as a commercial breeder mama she seems to have gotten her spunk happy go lucky personality back.
Birdie loves to follow us around the house and will plop down and lay in the doorway to whatever room we are in. We did hear about her having a fear of men from her prior foster home. I have noticed she has taken to me (foster mom) much more than foster dad, but there have been no signs of growling or aggression. With slow introductions I think she will be just fine with anyone. She doesn't like to have her paws squeezed or collar grabbed abruptly, so it's possible there were just a few things that scared her. We did have a male friend over and she actually jumped on the couch and laid in his lap!
Her potty training is coming along great. We do keep her in her kennel overnight to avoid an accident. She also does great in her kennel with minimal whining! Her favorites spot though is definitely sprawled out on the sofa.
Birdie would thrive in a home with another dog friend to play with. She loves to be up and doing things around the house with you and then take a nap afterwards, so a quiet and patient home that will keep her entertained yet give her space knowing her background is ideal.
Bonus points if you have a sofa with a lot of throw pillows - she loves to roll around on the sofa until all the pillows are knocked on the ground. She's so goofy!
We can't wait for miss Birdie to find her perfect match.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
