Azura

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Mini Aussie
Age: Est DOB: 05/2021
Weight: 30 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Yes

History: Azura is a beautiful and gentle girl who needed a second chance at a good life. We do believe her to be vision impaired, particularly in her left eye. We do believe she can hear just fine however! Azura is on phenobarbital for suspected seizures.  She has a history of snapping in the air as though she is trying to catch a fly.  This is going well with less of this behavior since starting the medication.

A Note from the Foster: If you’re looking for unconditional love then Azura is here to fill that need. Her foster mom calls her an “Angel”.  She loves to be next to you and is happy just to have a hand resting on her when she sleeps next to you while you’re reading or watching TV: of course if you want to pet her at the same time, I guarantee you’ll both be relaxed. She is crate trained and house trained.

She does have some limitations with her vision.  We believe she sees better with her left eye than her right eye.  At first there was a concern that Azura was deaf but her foster mom says she definitely is not deaf.

Azura does not have a fear or negative reaction to other dogs, however, she’s still learning that people she meets outside of the home are kind and safe.  She is on anti-seizure medication to minimize and possibly eliminate her occasional and brief episodes of fly-biting the air.

She would be a wonderful companion and addition to any home.

Adoption Fee: $560 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
