A-Train

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Please read full bio before applying

Gender: Male
Breed: Australian Shepherd Mix
Age: Est DOB: 02/2025
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Best w/ no or older children
House Trained: Doing great!

History: We recently welcomed a group of aussie mix puppies from an overcrowded shelter and wow, they are sweet, beautiful, and SO friendly! They are each hoping to find forever homes of their very own soon.

A Note from the Foster: A-Train or as we have been calling him Trey, is finally ready to start looking for his forever home!

Trey is not going to be the right dog for just anyone and we are looking for a specific home for him to set him up for success.

He is a young spunky little ‘Aussie mix’ with personality for days, he is wicked smart and always up to tackle new challenges, learn new things, he loves to be active and moving around. Trey would benefit from an active home that will plan to exercise with him regularly and do fun things with him to keep him busy. Trey would do excellent learning dog sports, going hiking or any activity. Trey will need a home that can also set appropriate boundaries and include structure in the day to day activities or else Trey will take advantage. Trey does the best when clear expectations are given with no wiggle room for him to get into trouble.

Trey does well with other dogs but other dogs do not always like trey because he can be too much for them sometimes. Trey is not shy and loves to jump right in, to play and wrestle, he is not always polite and that can rub some dogs the wrong way. With proper boundaries and the right match, Trey would do just fine in a home with other dogs.

Trey has a few accomplishments under his belt already, he successfully completed a 21 day jumpstart board and train program with The Dog Wizard that includes life long support from the Dog Wizard Trainers that will follow him anywhere he goes. Trey excelled at training, even the dog trainer he worked with wished that she could have kept him!

The Trainers notes included:

“Tray is a little genius baby! He picks up on things quickly and is so eager to learn. He will EASILY train people to do what he wants so he needs someone who’s more strong willed than he is! Demand barking is something we worked heavily on - as it was apparent he learned barking would lead him to things that he wants (to come inside, to be let out of the kennel, for a treat, for food, to be released, for attention, etc.)

Given his smart, confident personality, the last thing Tray needs is to be given everything he desires with every bark. Those behaviors will only escalate!

Tray looooves food - he will do anything for even just his kibble. This makes training so much easier. We’ll want to continue to work on all offered behaviors as well as commands using positive reinforcement so we can continue in the right direction that we’re headed!

All in all, Tray would do best with an active, experienced dog owner who’s familiar with smart, working breeds. He has so much potential and I believe he would thrive in the right home.”

Trey would be the perfect adventure buddy, he would be so fun to do different training classes or dog sports with. He has amazing potential, he just needs that perfect fit home to provide him the attention, exercise and training that he needs to thrive. If you think that you are a good fit, please apply!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
