Amity

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Shepherd Mix
Age: Est DOB: 02/2025
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Likely due to young age
Kid Friendly: Likely due to young age
House Trained: Doing great!

History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Amity is a bright, spunky 5-month-old pup who recently made her way up from Texas and is ready to find her forever home!

This smart girl is currently living with a 70-pound Catahoula mix and absolutely loves roughhousing and playtime—she can definitely hold her own! Amity is playful, curious, and full of that joyful puppy energy. She’s also highly treat-motivated and a quick learner, making training both fun and productive. With a consistent, positive approach, she’s already making big strides in learning how to be gentle with her mouth and body.

Amity truly wants to please and connect with her people. She's been great with school-aged kids and up, and while she hasn't had much experience with toddlers, her eagerness to learn makes her a great candidate for a home committed to ongoing training and gentle guidance.

She knows some basic commands already, and when she starts showing typical puppy mischief, she's easily redirected into "training mode"—which she enjoys! Walks are becoming a new favorite activity for Amity; she may be a little hesitant in unfamiliar areas at first, but she warms up quickly and then has a blast exploring. Amity is doing great with potty training as long as we keep to a schedule. She is also crate trained and sleeps in her crate all night long. She also naps in her crate during the day. We sometimes find her falling asleep in cool, calm spaces as well…our laundry room is a favorite space for her.

Amity would thrive in an active home that enjoys engaging with their dog and is ready to help her continue growing into a well-mannered companion. Whether it’s hiking, playing, or training sessions, Amity is always up for the next adventure—as long as it’s with you. While not required, Amity would do great with another dog that is willing to play and show her the ropes.

If you're looking for a loyal, fun-loving pup who’s smart, eager, and full of potential, Amity might just be your perfect match!

Adoption Fee: $750 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
