History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Hi I'm Alexa and my foster mom says I am the sweetest girl!
I came from an overcrowded shelter in Texas and am learning all about the good life- and I am definitely loving it! My favorite things about my foster home is the love I receive, the kids (3 and 5), the yard, and all the comfy spots to sleep at! My foster mom says I am amazing with kids and have come out my shell running around and playing with them in the yard! I also really love to snuggle and get pets. If you stop petting, I will gladly stare at you with my puppy eyes to tell you to keep petting me! I am doing great with potty training and understand to do my business outside! I love to run, play and chew on yummy bones!
My foster mom and dad say I have the best temperament- I am playful when it’s time to be, but can also chill out when needed! I put my human foster siblings to bed every night and usually fall asleep before them in my foster mom’s lap- it’s so cozy!
I am great in my kennel and sleep through the night! I also share my space with 4 big dogs! I am really good with all of them and am respectful of space when the older ones need It! I have become best friends with the 120 pound gentle giant and can hold my own with her! We have so much fun together- I’d love another playmate in my new home! I also LOVE getting the zoomies in the yard!
I am a little nervous on a leash but my foster family is working hard at getting me used to it because I’m learning being out and about is so fun! I like to ride in the wagon with my family so I can participate and see all my friends! I also love meeting new friends (humans and dogs) at the fence! I love to run up and down the fence line with my neighbor dogs and only bark if the other dogs bark first! I truly am a big love bug and so happy with anything life throws at me!
I am so excited to find my forever home and will love you with my whole heart!
Although Alexa is doing great in her foster home, she will need a lot of patience and likely need a shut down period to adjust to her new home and family!
Adoption Fee: $750 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
