History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Meet Abe – Your Next Adventure Buddy! 🐾
Abe is a 10-month-old Husky/Shepherd mix with stunning steel-blue eyes and a heart full of love. At 53 pounds, he’s the perfect size for cuddles and hikes alike. I’ve been fostering him since last Friday, and he’s been an absolute joy to have around! He is coming from Texas.
✨ Why Abe is Awesome:
Energetic but knows how to chill
Gets along great with other dogs (currently living with my female 5-year-old Frenchie!)
Potty trained and crate trained (sleeps through the night!) No marking in the house at all.
Calm in the car and a great hiking companion
Smart and eager to learn – picked up stairs in one try!
Loves a fenced yard but would do fine with regular walks
He hasn’t met cats or small kids yet, but his happy-go-lucky attitude suggests he’d do well with both. He has met my neighbors and their dogs and was a very good boy. Abe is still learning commands and sometimes gets excited and jumps up, but he’s very responsive and wants to please.
💙 Bonus: He’s already neutered and has an intake appointment on Sept 25.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
