History: Abbey is an Australian Kelpie/ shep mix, she is incredibly smart and knows lots of tricks. She can sit, stay, shake and lay down. She is very food motivated and learns super quickly. Abbey is kennel trained, and house trained. Abbey has also completed a two-week training boot camp to get a head start in obedience. She did amazing in training, and continues to show the skills she has learned every day. Abbey is looking for a family of her own, she will need an adopter that will keep up with her training, and give her the proper exercise she needs. She is dog friendly with the right match and does well with play dates but would really prefer to be the only dog of the home so she does not need to share her toys or space with others. She is a very friendly happy girl and likes to go for walks outside, hang out in the yard and just take in the sights. Abbey enjoys playing with her toys and taking naps on her bed or the couch. Abbey overall has a moderate energy level, she is okay to just hang out at home or go out an about, she would easily be able to keep up with an active lifestyle. Abbey has a super fun outgoing personality; she will even talk to you when she is super excited about things and is wishing to hopefully meet her forever family soon!
A note from the foster: Abbey has seamlessly adapted to our home and everyone in it. She has been going on around 3 walks a day and is working hard on leash manners. She is making progress with that every day. Abbey absolutely loves going for rides in the truck and has had a couple of play dates and did fantastic with the other dogs and people. Her favorite spot is on the couch so she can get all the belly rubs she can. Abbey has also done great with meeting my teenage step daughters and winning hearts with everyone she meets. She has had zero accidents and has not gone after anything naughty in the house. She loves joining me at the shop and hanging out while I work. Abbey needs lots of physical and mental stimulation but also does great just hanging out and cuddling. She has been doing great with barking but is definitely vocal. She has a lot to say and also loves to howl at sirens. She has done well with a couple of baths and absolutely loves getting brushed. I really can’t say enough about how sweet and smart she is. She will make her future family so happy. Thank you for considering Abbey!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
